Why do dogs need training?

We want them to listen to us and they want and need to bond with us.  Training is the vehicle for that.

What training methodology do you use and why?

I am a positive reinforcement trainer.  That means I reward the behaviors I like and ignore the behaviors I do not like. I use a combination of treats, praise, and life rewards to reward your dog’s good behavior. Sometimes I will remove a dog or myself from access to something they find rewarding if I need to send a stronger message.  Dogs learn when they are motivated and trust us. That is why I don’t use physical punishment. It doesn’t help and can break the bond between the owner, trainer and dog.

Why do you require an initial consultation before starting training?

This is important for several reasons.  Your dog, purebred or mix, has certain qualities inherent to their personality that makes them “tick”.  By understanding your dog’s personality we can use their natural behavior to develop a training plan you and they will love.  At this meeting we will also discuss your lifestyle, your goals and what is most important for your puppy to learn at this stage in their life.

Do you board dogs without a training package?

No.  All dogs coming here need training.  Let’s see how I can help you!

Our Awesome Clients!

We started bringing our puppy to Rebecca’s place as soon as we could. We heard great things about the way she cares for dogs and we needed help since was our first dog. Our pup has grown up and we get compliments all the time on how well behaved she is. We will use Rebecca for as long as she continues to work with dogs. We love her.

Rebecca Goldstone of Willow Glen Paws is the best puppy caretaker ever. He was so happy there. She sent us daily pictures and txts to update us on how he was doing. I had peace of mind knowing that he was in a safe and healthy environment and well cared for.
I highly recommend her for day care/ boarding especially puppies.
